For its part, the NSA in 2008 began to collect World of Warcraft metadata in the hope of linking accounts or guilds, characters and guilds to Islamic extremism and arms trade groups. Through information gathering efforts buy WoTLK Gold, it was discovered that some World of Warcraft subscribers were in reality "telecom engineers diplomats, embassy drivers military personnel, as well as others intelligence institutions," the documents show.
A spokesperson for Blizzard Entertainment told the Guardian, "We are unaware of any surveillance happening. If it was then it was not done with our knowledge or consent." However, representatives for Second Life and Microsoft declined to speak to. It's not known how government agencies were able to get access to the user's data, or how widespread the spying was actually.

Activision Blizzard's 2017 Proxy Statement reveals that the company has taken down a program called the Blizzard Holiday Plan cheap WoW WoTLK Classic Gold, though it claims that it's just rearranged in the event that that money comes into employees' pockets in response to feedback from employees.
