The Hydra Sorc is one thing of a classic Diablo III build, where this skill found shines. However, until Patch 2.4, it had been pretty lackluster in Diablo II. Now, this turns into a viable build-up to /players 8. The Hydra Sorceress is a Fire specialist that has amazing standoff capability and offers a straightforward, you could even say relaxing, playstyle. With the new changes to Cold Mastery which make the Cold Sorc a little less dominant, we believe Hydra Sorcs could see more play moving forward.
Strengths of the Hydra Sorceress
Terrific standoff capability
Unmatched mobility via teleport
Can gear for Magic Find

The Hydra Sorc can release decent damage by herself, by casting Hydras well in front of her, she's ways to cope with tight spaces and crowds that may confound other sorceress builds. As with most Sorceress builds, she also gets a native teleport spell without resorting to the Enigma armor, and she's lots of selections for good gear with Magic Find. Static Field along with a mercenary can sort out fire-immune enemies, but she will also decide to hybridize with Frost Orb, that is what we did here. Or, she will choose to hybridize with Enchant to create a powerful grouping character. You can see a good example of an Enchant/Hydra build within the guide linked below.
Weaknesses of the Hydra Sorceress
Limited to Fire Damage if you don't do something like Hydra/Orb
As all sorceress builds, survivability is low and unfortunate surprises can occur
Not the very best end-game build
As all sorceress builds, the Hydra Sorc is a specialist in elemental damage, in this instance, Fire. That works great until mid to late game, however, it does be a bit problematic as she advances with the game and encounters more fire-proof enemies, particularly in Hell before you can obtain and employ your Sunder Charm. In the end, it is good to remember that she's simple to kill if her shields and magic fail her. It's often easier to just leave a game title and recover your gear around than to die twice and also have a serious problem to handle. With the right mercenary and gear, and patience, though, she will compete with other sorceress builds through /players 8.
Key Gear Considerations for Hydra Sorceress
As you progress like a Hydra Sorc, you have to balance three key considerations: Faster Cast Rate (FCR), which will allow you to teleport considerably faster, Faster Hit Recovery (FHR), which will prevent you from being repeatedly stunned when you are getting hit, as well as your overall resistances to incoming damage. Resists are critical because often the sorceress includes a fairly small pool of life.
Skills for that Hydra Sorceress in Diablo II: Resurrected Patch 2.7 & Ladder Season 4
As it would seem, you'll depend on Hydras most of the time. However, within this build, we now have opted to include in some Frozen Orb for additional diversity not to mention you will always want Static Field and Energy Shield. There are many options apart from Orb, including Lightning and potentially Blizzard. But, Orb gives good range and utilizes Hydras as you are not competing for global cooldown, helping out with fire-immunes. So, that is what we should have done here.
