A FromSoftware DLC is definitely something to become excited about; from the derelict Painted World of Ariandel to confronting Gael in the climax of The Ringed City, by means of exploring the tragedy from the Fishing Hamlet and also the Orphan of Kos, they’ve brought us some from the most memorable locations and bosses in gaming. Since the announcement of Elden Ring Runes' upcoming Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion, the city has been rife with speculation in regard to what it will provide.
The teaser image I was shown for that DLC shows a figure, very likely to become Miquella, riding Torrent. So it seems Miquella might've been Torrent's former master—and those who've delved into the game's lore and item descriptions realize that Miquella continues to be an immensely influential estimate of the Lands Between, both as himself so and as St. Trina. Right now, he's a figure we've heard much about but never gotten to properly meet, so I hope the DLC introduces us.
His association with sleep and dreaming causes me to feel wonder if we'll reach visit the dream world somehow—and if that's the case, could it be the kind of peaceful utopia he envisioned for that Haligtree, an idealized version from the Erdtree which welcomes all under its branches, whether they’re Misbegotten, Omens or else? Or could it be a horror to rival the Nightmare of Mensis, impacted by Mohg’s bloody rituals and also the mysterious Outer God he serves?
The DLC brings by using it the opportunity to flesh out several types of builds and equipment. The base game lacks a weapon that scales purely off INT, for example, in addition to any bow that provides more than D scaling inside a stat. The Ashes of War for bows are rather bland and samey too, so some unique Ashes may go a long way towards creating a bow that feels more viable as the main weapon.
My number 1 wish is perfect for a Reaper-class weapon with satisfying animations. There are only four scythes hanging around at present, and every one of them feels somewhat slow and unwieldy, which doesn't align using the fantasy of these kinds of weapons. What's the point of cosplaying one from the Cleanrot Knights if I can't emulate their speed and grace? So pretty please, provide us with a scythe with moves as slick as those from the Godskin Peeler.
On that note, I’d also welcome more cosmetic choices for customizing our builds. Armor alteration would be a pretty novel feature for elden ring runes to possess introduced, along with a step in the best direction for all of us Fashion Souls players. Right now though, a lot of the available alterations get down to adjusting capes. Going forward, it would be nice to determine this pushed further: what about toggling helmet visors, as well as changing the color of an armor set? Boc the Seamster would welcome the chance to show off his craft, I'm sure, and we'd all do well to become prepared for that next time the fashion police strike.
This Tarnished can also be holding out hope that some community theories concerning the story of The Lands Between may be confirmed. All of us acquainted with FromSoftware games know right now that much of the underlying lore isn't brought up explicitly in-game, but instead revealed (as well as just implied) within the environment as well as in item descriptions. Knowing this, it's difficult to expect the DLC to provide any straight facts—in fact, it'll probably create much more mysteries.
Even so, we all have our pet theories and burning questions that we'd enjoy answering. In this case: what is the deal with Ensha?
He's a servant of some type to Gideon Offnir; that's about all we all know for sure. But considering his status being an NPC who we simply interact with twice within the entire game—once to get the What Do You Want? Gesture, and when he attacks us within the Roundtable Hold—Ensha's item descriptions really raise some eyebrows. His armor is said to become 'graced with gold human bones' which belonged to some 'soulless king, the lord from the lost and desperate, who had been known as Ensha.' So, Ensha sports his own bones. Does he not speak while he can't, then, being some type of animated suit of armor? If his bones are golden, did he somehow fit in with the Golden Lineage? Might he be associated with the 'soulless demigods' we find within the Walking Mausoleums?
To be known as a lord along with a king in The Lands Between is a huge deal; I can't help but believe much concerning the character continues to be left unsaid. There are countless little mysteries such as this one scattered through the game, so hopefully the DLC allows us to piece more of it together.
