Dublin sees highest hiring momentum globally

Dublin has seen the highest upswing of hiring across 50 of the largest metropolitan areas around the world between January and June of this year, according to new data published by professional network LinkedIn. The analysis, which examined the LinkedIn Hiring Rate across a range of cities including New York, Paris and Rome, found that Dublin was the only euro zone metro area with positive hiring momentum. The analysis also shows job search intensity is rising internationally, with Ireland ranking sixth globally so far in 2024. Ireland continues to have one of the largest shares of hybrid and remote job opportunities, ranking second in Europe in terms of availability for both types of positions. However, the availability of such opportunities is declining. In the past 12 months, there was a 12.5% year-on-year fall in hybrid opportunities and a 14.8% fall in remote roles. While there was a drop in the number of flexible work roles available, demand for these positions continues to outstrip supply. "With the Irish economy effectively at full employment, it is no surprise that we are seeing a lot of competition for roles in a tight jobs market," said LinkedIn Ireland Country Manager Sue Duke. "What clearly stands out is that companies that offer flexible work options are attracting more applicants than their peers, so it continues to be a point of differentiation for prospective employers," Ms Duke said.
