Matthew Modine Joins Legendary’s Newest ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Movie
Matthew Modine is the latest actor to join the .
The actor, who had a resurgence thanks to his work on Netflix’s , has closed a deal to join the cast of Legendary’s latest installment of its Godzilla-King Kong movie franchise.
Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is directing the creature feature, which one again showcases gigantic monsters and the tiny humans caught in between.
Plot details from the David Callaham-written script are being kept under the Earth’s crust, but Legendary has said the story will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”

The call sheet already includes new-to-the-franchise actors , Jack O’Connell and . Dan Stevens is reprising his role of laid-back monster veterinarian and dentist Trapper, whom he played in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Sources say that Modine will play a general.
Shooting is due to start April in Australia.
Modine, who appeared in 1980s movies Full Metal Jacket and Married to the Mob, played conflicted (but — let’s face it) bad guy scientist Dr. Brenner, aka “Papa,” in Stranger Things.
He also had a key appearance in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning drama Oppenheimer as well as drama The Martini Shot. He can currently be seen opposite Robert De Niro on Netflix series Zero Day.
Upcoming projects include the Amazon original series The Better Sister with Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel and The Protector with Milla Jovovich.
