Maxine Ansah, Esq. Appointed Director of International Affairs at The Voice of Africa Group

The Voice of Africa Group (TVOA) has appointed Maxine Ansah, Esq. as Director of International Affairs,  strengthening the organisation’s leadership  and marking a strategic step to deepen TVOA’s presence within international policy, diplomatic, and institutional spaces where African perspectives are often underrepresented.

Having recently been called to the Bar in The Gambia, Maxine Ansah brings a rare dual blend of legal training and international affairs experience, positioning her at the intersection of legal practice, global governance, and strategic storytelling. Her appointment reflects TVOA’s commitment to ensuring African voices are not only present, but influential within the institutions shaping global decisions.

A Legal Mind Entering Global Governance

Maxine is currently also working in a law firm where she is gaining hands-on experience in legal research, drafting, and casework. Her legal training is driven by a clear focus on justice, accountability, and the role of law in building fair systems.

Rather than approaching law as an isolated discipline, Maxine understands legal practice as deeply connected to diplomacy, policy, and institutional power. This integrated perspective guides her work at TVOA, where media is used not simply for commentary, but as a strategic bridge into global decision-making spaces.

Director of International Affairs: Beyond Media

As Director of International Affairs, Maxine leads TVOA’s engagement with global institutions whose policies directly shape Africa’s future. Her role goes beyond coverage. She translates complex multilateral processes into clear, accessible narratives while laying the foundation for long-term partnerships, collaboration, and institutional alignment.

Through this work, TVOA positions itself not simply as an observer of global affairs, but as an active African platform engaging decision-makers at the highest levels.

Law, Diplomacy, and Narrative as Infrastructure

With an academic background in Law and International Affairs and Diplomacy, Maxine brings strong institutional awareness to TVOA’s global work. She understands how policies are shaped, how decisions are made, and how influence is exercised within international institutions.

Her approach is deliberate. Media is the entry point, but impact is built through credibility, consistency, and sustained engagement. Through her leadership, TVOA is strengthening its role as a trusted African platform within global governance spaces that have traditionally been dominated by non-African intermediaries.

A Long-Term Vision

Maxine’s career path is guided by a clear ambition to practise international law as a tool for social impact, with a particular focus on women and girls, young people, and vulnerable communities. Her work increasingly sits at the intersection of advocacy, policy, and accountability, areas where African perspectives remain limited.

By combining law and storytelling, she is laying the groundwork for future practice at the international level, contributing to the development of more just, inclusive, and African-centred systems on the continent and across the diaspora.

Her appointment represents not only a personal milestone, but also TVOA’s broader institutional direction: a shift from observing global affairs to participating meaningfully in global decision-making spaces.
