Crimson Desert is just getting started, even with 5 million copies sold in less than a month

The massive open-world singleplayer action game Crimson Desert has sold a massive five million copies in less than one month since launch, developer Pearl Abyss announced today.

It hardly feels like it’s been a month since the game launched, but we’re almost there. After dropping on March 19, it has reached a truly incredible sales milestone already, and the devs say that there’s still more in the pipeline with a bunch of planned content to come.

“Watching everyone’s journeys unfold since launch has meant a great deal to us, and we’re truly grateful for your dedication and support,” Pearl Abyss said in a statement last week, while detailing new content and features in updates planned for April through June.

These new additions include features like the ability to rematch with a boss and new difficulty settings. Quality of life updates under development include specialized But actual content is in the works, too, such as new skills, new mounts, and new character outfits.

A number of technical improvements, like UI updates, further optimizations to controls, and improvements to graphics options like distant scenery quality, will continue to iterate on the incredible attention to detail that Pearl Abyss has given the tremendously large open world of Crimson Desert. While the bulk of the studio is now moving on to the very interesting-looking creature collector DokeV, it appears there are still some Pearl Abyss devs working on Kliff’s journey to keep the good vibes flowing after a sketchy launch.

Numerous updates have already improved upon the game’s launch build since, and it’s been inspiring to see the devs working to rapidly change the conversation around it. That positive word of mouth could only have helped contribute to the huge number of copies sold thus far, with more likely to come.
