Sony's newly launched earbuds, the WF-1000XM6, are back with another price drop on Amazon. The WF-1000XM6 are designed as closed-type in-ear headphones with an 8.4mm driver unit, delivering a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz during standard Bluetooth playback, extending up to 40,000Hz when using LDAC at 96kHz sampling and 990kbps bitrate.
For connectivity, the WF-1000XM6 use Bluetooth 5.3 with an effective wireless range of up to 10 metres and operate on the 2.4GHz band (2.4000GHz to 2.4835GHz). The earbuds support multiple Bluetooth profiles, including A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, TMAP, CSIP, MCP, VCP, and CCP, and are compatible with SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 audio codecs. Furthermore, content protection is provided via SCMS-T.
Noise cancellation is a core feature, complemented by Ambient Sound Mode and Quick Attention Mode, which should allow users to hear external sounds when needed or quickly lower audio for conversations without removing the earbuds. The earbuds also carry an IPX4 rating for resistance against sweat and light splashes.
In terms of battery life, it is rated at up to 5 hours of continuous use with noise-cancelling enabled and up to 5.5 hours with noise-cancelling disabled. When used with the charging case, total playback extends to up to 8 hours with noise cancelling on and up to 12 hours with noise cancelling off. Lastly, the earbuds use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and charging is supported via USB-C as well as wireless charging in the case.
