A 37-year-old man has been arrested near Barnstaple, in Devon, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) officers investigating a string of attacks on Jewish communities in London, the Metropolitan Police said.
The suspect was detained on Sunday, April 26, before being taken to a London police station where he was taken into custody for questioning.
The arrest forms part of an ongoing counter-terror investigation into a series of disturbing incidents.
These include attacks on premises linked to the Jewish community in north west London, an assault on a Persian-language media organisation, and the discovery of suspicious jars in Kensington Gardens, later confirmed to contain a non-hazardous substance.
Counter terror officers are working closely with Metropolitan Police colleagues as part of a major operation to respond to the incidents, with specialist teams deployed to provide security advice and reassurance to affected communities, businesses and organisations.
The investigation was launched following an attack on Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green on March 23.
Since then, officers have arrested a total of 26 people.
Eight have been charged with arson-related offences, while one individual has already been convicted.
