M4 traffic LIVE: Road closed as young driver fights for life after horror collision

Sunday's traffic headaches have become Monday morning's commuter chaos for those hiping to traverse the M4 around Wiltshire. Westbound lanes remain closed after a serious crash in the early hours of Sunday between J14 Hungerford Interchange (Hungerford. Wantage A338) and J15 Plough Lane Interchange (Marlborough A346; Swindon A419). 

Diversion protocols remain in place, with traffic advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol on local road signs. Or, if you prefer, the below route:

- Leave the M4 at J14. At the roundabout, take the first exit and join the A338. 

- Follow for approx 3 miles

- At the A4 mini roundabout turn right onto the A4 towards Hungerford avoiding Hungerford town centre. 

- After a short distance to the next roundabout take the 2nd exit into Charnham Park. 

- Turn right onto the B4192 and follow for approx 13 miles through Aldbourne to the A419 roundabout 

- Take the first exit and join the A419, continue to rejoin the M4 westbound at Jct 15.
