During our routine bison herd check, we discover that Peaches, one of our trusted mother cows, has tragically lost her calf. Later in the day, we attend a Bison Summer Social event, where we connect with other bison ranchers, share knowledge, and build community.

When we return to the ranch, we face another devastating blow—we’ve lost another red dog calf. After consulting with our veterinarian, we finally get an answer: the cause is Cryptosporidium, a common but deadly parasite in young calves that affects both livestock health and ranch management.
