A wave of Israeli airstrikes hit ‘Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure’ across Lebanon on Jan. 25, the Israel Defence Forces said, with Lebanese officials reporting two dead. The IDF claimed that one of the victims was a Hezbollah artillery commander, Mohammed al-Hussayni. Meanwhile, Lebanese media claimed that the IDF used bunker-busting bombs in the Jan. 25 strikes, with Al-Manar reporting that an Israeli drone dropped a bomb in Maroun al-Ras. The attacks came amid fears of a possible strikes by the US and Israel against Iran, the Lebanese group’s top ally. A day before the strike, on Jan. 24, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem praised Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as the group’s “guardian”.
