U.S. congressman behind anti-tariff win says Trump 'starting to see the message' | Power & Politics

Democratic Rep. Gregory Meeks introduced the resolution to stop U.S. President Donald Trump's 35 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods that passed with the support of six Republicans on Wednesday night, and says he believes Trump is 'starting to receive' the message that Americans oppose them. Meeks says more Republicans privately tell him they oppose the tariffs and hopes that if the Senate forces Trump to veto or sign the resolution, it will convince others in the president's party to come forward.
