Iran has fired two ballistic missiles at the Diego Garcia joint UK-US military base, Sky News understands, after the UK allowed Washington to use the bases for "collective self-defence".

Military analyst Sean Bell questions whether the missiles could have travelled further and what that would mean for the safety of mainland UK.
