UK accuses Russia of carrying out submarine operation over cables and pipelines

Defence Secretary John Healey has revealed that the UK and its allies monitored a Russian attack submarine and two spy submarines mapping Britain's underwater infrastructure.

The operation occurred in UK economic waters in the North Atlantic and lasted a month.

Sky's defence and security editor, Deborah Haynes, said Mr Healey's public comments were aimed at deterring further Russian operations.
