Hezbollah drone ‘swarm’ hits military, civilian areas deep in Israel
Seventeen people were injured in a Hezbollah drone attack on northern Israel on Tuesday, amid fears of a full-blown war between the two sides, according to Israeli media.
The Israeli army reported that several drones were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel, with one drone intercepted and another falling in the city of Nahariya.
The attack triggered rocket sirens in several areas in northern Israel, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
In a statement, Hezbollah claimed it fired a series of drones at the headquarters of Israel’s Golani Brigade, an infantry brigade, and the headquarters of its Egoz Unit, an elite commando unit, located in the Shraga barracks near the Lebanese border.
Al Jazeera’s Assed Baig reports from Marjayoun in southern Lebanon and Zein Basravi reports from Amman.
Amir Oren, a columnist for Haaretz newspaper focusing on military and government affairs, joins from New York to discuss the latest developments.
