Trunnion mounted ball valve manufacturers
Valvesonly Europe is one of the leading Trunnion mounted ball valve manufacturers in Europe, produces heavy-duty, high-quality solutions to sectors that require accurate flow control. These valves offer smooth, dependable, high-pressure operation and are widely used in the water, power, chemical, and oil and gas sectors.
One kind of quarter-turn valve that has a fixed base trunnion to hold the ball in place is a trunnion mounted ball valve, which offers reduced operating torque and increased durability. As a result, the valve can handle large-diameter, high-pressure pipes where traditional ball valves would not function effectively.
How do they work?
With the goal to control fluid flow, the trunnion-mounted ball valve rotates a hollow, pierced ball inside the valve body. Unlike floating ball valves, which allow the ball to float when pressure is applied, the trunnion-mounted variations use a trunnion to hold the ball in location resulting in smoother operation and less torque requirement.
The fluid moves freely through the ball's bore while the valve is in its wide-open position. The ball blocks the flow and seals the pipeline when it is spun 90 degrees. Even at excessive pressure, a tight seal is guaranteed by the spring-operated seats and trunnion.
Components:
The valve body houses the internal components and provides structural support.
Trunnion (Bottom Support): Provides rigidity by keeping the ball motionless.
Ball: Controls the fluid's flow via the valve.
Stem: Connects the handle or actuator to the ball so that it can rotate.
Seat rings: They provide a tight seal and stop leaks.
Seals and bearings: Lowers friction and enhance valve performance.
Benefits:
Reduced Operating Torque: This makes automation easier by reducing actuation effort.
High-Pressure Capability: Perfect for pipelines with a big diameter and high pressure.
Tight Sealing: There is no leakage thanks to spring-loaded seating.
Extended Service Life: Durable materials require less upkeep and have a longer lifespan.
Perfect for High-Temperature Use: Able to withstand drastic temperature changes.
Difference between Trunnion and Floating Ball valve?
The primary difference between trunnion and floating ball valves lies in their design and how they support the ball within the valve body.
In a floating ball valve, the ball is free to move and is only connected to the stem. When the valve is open, the pressure of the fluid forces the ball against the downward seat, thus creating a seal.
However, in a trunnion ball valve, the ball is supported by trunnions at both ends. This way ball is held firmly in place, even under high-pressure conditions, enhancing stability and sealing performance.
Trunnion ball valves are commonly used in applications where high pressure or large diameter pipelines are involved, whereas floating ball valves are suitable for lower pressure applications and smaller pipelines.
Two-piece trunnion ball valve: It is composed of two main parts that are fastened together.
Three-piece trunnion ball valve: A detachable middle part makes maintenance easier with this.
Fully Welded Trunnion Ball Valve: Used for long-term submerged and subsurface services.
Top entry trunnion ball valve: In-line maintenance is made easier without removing the valve from the pipeline.
