Homes Under the Hammer host Dion Dublin spots 'odd detail' in eerie property

Homes Under the Hammer host Dion Dublin was on a mission to show viewers one property on his radar for Thursday's episode but during his scan of one home, he came across a peculiar discovery. The presenter headed to the "leafy suburban" location of Woodstock, in Nottingham which is a popular and often sought after spot for prospective buyers. He introduced a detached, two bed bungalow, with a guide price of £200,000 at auction on the BBC programme. In hindsight, the home looked to be a steal with such a small price tag attached but on a second glance from within, it appeared there were some major obstacles to overcome for any buyer - including massive gaping holes in the roof. Dion was impressed with the space of the bungalow but was not bowled over by the sheer volume of work that would need to be carried out to restore it to a relatively good condition, telling viewers it was a "starting from page one" type of deal but could see "the potential". During his usual assessment of the eerie and derelict building he came across something considerably unusual for a bungalow, a very odd looking wooden staircase. Speaking on camera he said: "And we've got... ?" Baffled he exclaimed: "Ok, why have we got stairs?" Pondering over such a detail he added: "Stairs leading to... I don't know where the stairs are leading to because I thought this was a bungalow?" Unable to explain them, he quickly moved on to the rest of the home: "Right, we've got a kitchen there which is er, quite small and a bathroom that is even smaller." Dion was baffled by the staircase The property expert was keen to see the positives, despite the shabby interior. He pointed to the fact there was "original features" that he would keep and "big tall ceilings", however while scanning the roof he noticed massive holes. He told viewers on the original feature: "You know you would try to keep as much as you possibly can but so far, I'm not sure what you could keep," before his eyes lit up as he stumbled into a huge room. Property developer Andy snapped up the bungalow "Well not tight and small in here at all, lots of space in this room and ceiling height is good, even though there's not much ceiling because there's massive holes everywhere. This is a definite start on page one type project but I do like the layout," concluded Dion. Eventually the host did venture up the baffling staircase and was stunned. He blurted: "I wasn't expecting all of this space," excitedly he chimed: "I think this could be a four bed house, you've got three on the ground floor at the front of the property and you could put a bedroom up here no problem at all." Andy an experienced property developer snapped up the bungalow for £250,500, leaving Dion "jealous" because he felt it had "so much potential." After completely revamping the property Andy was left with a huge dilemma on his hands. He told hosts: "I'm not quite sure if it's a family home or a party home, leaving me in a bit of a dilemma about what to do with it. Do I sell it? Do I rent it? Or do I move in?" In the end Andy exceeded his budget of £100,00 to complete the renovation by £15,000. Having become "attached to the property" Andy decided that he wanted to keep it on his portfolio but wasn't sure if he'd move in or choose to rent it. Homes Under the Hammer airs on BBC One, weekdays from 11am.
