As Darwin Nunez returned to his Liverpool teammates after missing a penalty in the shootout on Tuesday night, Mohamed Salah stood away from the rest of the Reds, choosing not to console the Uruguayan.
It was heartbreak for Liverpool against Paris Saint-Germain after a thrilling two-legged tie in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Arne Slot’s men had been largely outplayed in Paris but escaped with a 1-0 win so were in a strong position as they returned to Anfield.
However, PSG were not dispirited by their home defeat and picked up a 1-0 victory thanks to an Ousmane Dembele goal on Merseyside.
It was a brilliant game to watch and could easily have been a contest much deeper in the competition than the last 16 given the quality on display.

After extra-time and no further goals, the game reached the nerve-shredding penalty shootout, taken in front of the travelling French fans at Anfield.
PSG were perfect from the spot, but the same could not be said for the home side, with Nunez and Curtis Jones both seeing their efforts saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Salah was the first up for the Reds and he confidently found the back of the net, before Nunez took his penalty second.
As the Uruguayan trudged back to the half-way line, Reds captain was first to step towards him and offer him support, before the rest of the team came round the forward to try to raise his spirits…except Salah.
The prolific forward stood away from the rest of his teammates, outside the centre circle, with his hands on his hips as the other players consoled Nunez.
Salah was certainly emotional after the stinging exit from the competition, with tears in his eyes as he clapped the Anfield crowd after the game.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and his future remains in doubt, meaning the loss to PSG could be the last game he ever plays in the Champions League.
Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also into the final few months of their contracts at Anfield and could have played their last European game for the Reds.

Slot was trying to look on the bright side of a painful evening, feeling that the exhilarating match was the best he’d ever been a part of.

‘It was the best game of football I have ever been involved in,’ Slot said.
‘It was an incredible performance, especially if you compare it with last week. Maybe we ran out of luck because the margins were so small.
‘We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal. It was similar to Paris last week, when they played the perfect game and didn’t score. And then in extra time, they were maybe a little bit better.’
PSG will go on to face with Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
