Temperatures to drop to -3C as cold snap in store for next few days
Things will feel a lot brisker over the next few days as Met Éireann has predicted temperatures as low as -3C in some parts.However, the national forecaster has also said that it will remain largely dry as we head towards St. Patrick's Day.Wednesday has started largely dry and bright in most parts of the country, but things will turn wet in some areas throughout the day.There will be isolated light showers with occasional breaks in the cloud, but temperatures will only reach a high of between 5C and 9C.Overnight, it will fall below freezing as cold and frosty conditions set in, with lows of between -2C and +2C in a light wind.Unsurprisingly, that will result in a cold start to Thursday morning, but there will be mainly dry conditions for most.Met Éireann does say that cloud will increase through the day and will bring some showers, mainly to the north and west of the country.Temperatures on Thursday will not reach higher than 9C.Thursday night will see showers become widespread and heavier — with sleet showers possible on hills.Frost will form in some areas with a low of -1C.Though not entirely certain, the national forecaster is predicting potential hail showers on Friday afternoon.Friday night will be the coldest of the week as temperatures fall to -3C in parts.
