Coronation Street local arrested for shoplifting as star speaks out

Brody Michaelis is already causing trouble (Picture: ITV) Coronation Street’s Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) may have only just been released from the STC, but already he has found himself hauled back into the police station. The teen arrived on the cobbles last week and was instantly spotted by DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Kit had slept with Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) when they were teenagers, and it didn’t take long for him to suspect that Brody may be his. In tonight’s episode, Kit confronted Lou for the truth, but she refused to entertain the conversation. Meanwhile, Brody got himself in trouble when he attempted to steal from the corner shop. The troublesome teen was caught out by Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who called in Kit for assistance. They demanded that Brody empty his pockets, and were unsurprised when he handed them a packet of mints. Brody was recently released from the STC (Picture: ITV) Kit urged Brody to apologise to Bernie, and agreed to let him go free as long as he gave him his name and date of birth. As Brody revealed when he was born, Kit realised that the dates aligned perfectly to his time with Lou, meaning that Brody was his. Brody as it stands is currently unaware that Kit might be his father but it’s safe to say he’s not too pleased about the detective’s continued presence in his life. Kit Green and Lou Michaelis had a relationship as teenagers (Picture: ITV) Discussing the dynamic between the two characters, actor Ryan Mulvey said: ‘Brody’s got all this hate towards Kit just because in his eyes, he sees he is the reason why his family’s kind of falling apart. ‘He sees him as the villain in his story. And with Mick, Brody 100% looks up to his dad. He is his dad – it’s his superhero. And he loves him so much.’ On how Brody would react if he were to find out that Kit could be his dad, Ryan said that the revelation would ‘blow’ the character’s mind. ‘He’s not got the greatest relationship with his dad Mick. And he hasn’t really received the love that he wanted. That’s why he’s so closed off. So I think he would think in his head: “Why on earth would I ever let myself be open again to another father figure when the person who is my father didn’t even show me that?” ‘I think he’d be very against and very closed off to it just because he’s so insecure of getting hurt and is so anxious that he put on this hard exterior to save himself from that pain.’ Despite being smug at having been let off so easily by Kit, Brody would ultimately cross paths with him once more during Monday’s episode as he approached Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), gloating about how he’d also stolen a bottle of vodka and wanted to share it with her. In the past, Betsy has been unable to resist a bad boy, having embarked on brief romances with both Mason Radcliffe and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne). When Brody was arrested and brought in for questioning, Kit was tasked with booking him in, with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) pointing out that it would be best if she stayed away from the case given Betsy’s involvement. As Brody goaded Kit for previously letting him off, Kit called for him to be taken to the cells to sober up. We’ll just have to see but discussing what’s ahead, Ryan told us that Brody naturally brings a ‘bit of drama’ with him. ‘A lot of fight, a lot of stubbornness and he knows what he wants and he’ll get it.
