How America's Failed Weapons Get Recycled
The Pentagon's budget is $895 billion for FY2024, and that comes with some massive weapons programs and massive failures.
Fortunately for taxpayers, not all failures are a total loss; often, parts and pieces are salvaged and used in new programs. The Navy's cancelled rail gun cost $500,000,000 and was put on zero ships. The ammo, the Hypervelocity Projectile, is now being tested in not just Navy guns, but also in Army self-propelled artillery...and is helping propel new technology and capabilities.
