Inside Out: The fab four must-haves for your home

Who wouldn’t like to escape to an island — answers on a coconut tree-themed postcard, please. Supermodel-turned-photographer-turned-interiors-maven Helena Christensen’s design debut for BoConcept introduces the notion of a lounge chair as an "island retreat" for the home.

The Ø chair blends the comfort of a sofa with the intimacy of a chair in a cosy, oversized piece that’s a standalone sanctuary. If I had an island, I’d invite only very select companions to join me there. Six legs would fit just fine, I’m thinking.

Helena had this in mind too when she created the design. She says this is a perch that invites "dog cuddling".

Where did the inspiration for this seat come from? ‘I was born on an island and find them so magical,’ says BoConcept’s global artistic director.

The range also features a ceramic vase, rug and cushions. "My decoration philosophy is to have somewhere to curl up with a book or a cup of tea in as many places as possible in your home," adds Helena. The collection is available in the Dublin showroom. See BoConcept.com

Sing the blues

From a soulful indigo to an airy-sky tone, Dulux has for the first time unveiled three colours of the year. Each member of the Rhythm of Blues trio sings to a completely different tune — so for 2026, choose from the dark, moody blue Slow Swing, the light Mellow Flow and the vibrant Free Groove.

Scientifically speaking, blue has a short wavelength, meaning less energy and stimulation than other colours.

Research suggests it is linked with psychological effects like calmness, relaxation, and improved focus, slowing the heart rate and making people feel calm, says Dulux colour consultant Jane Witter/ "Some records sight blue as the world’s favourite colour, which could be put down to its connection to nature with cloudless skies and shimmering water, conjuring up feelings of up freshness and cleanliness," adds Jane.

"As a primary colour, it is layered with multiple associations, for example, blue dominates medical and Garda uniforms, denoting safety, and globally, blue zones describe regions where people live longer and happier lives." See Dulux.ie
