Nigeria Christian Genocide: US President Donald Trump said he has directed the US Department of War to “prepare for possible action” against Nigeria as he threatened to attack the West African country if it fails to act against the alleged killings of Christians. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump also threatened to stop US aid to Nigeria.
Why Trump threatened Nigeria?“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, “guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump warned Nigeria in his Truth Social post.
The US president instructed the Department of War “to prepare for possible action”, and warned that an US attack on the African nation will be “fast, vicious, and sweet”.
“If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!,” Trump threatened, and warned the Nigerian government to “better move fast”.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN” But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Blaming “radical Islamists” for the persecution of the Christian minority in Nigeria, Trump asked two federal lawmakers, Riley Moore and Tom Cole, to look into the issue. “I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter and report back to me,” he said.
What did Nigeria say?Meanwhile, Nigerian authorities have denied that Christians are being systematically targeted. Information Minister Mohammed Idris told Fox News that claims of mass persecution were “very misleading,” rejecting reports that tens of thousands had been killed.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu pushed back on Trump’s allegations, asserting that Nigeria’s identity is based on religious freedom and equality, and any form of religious persecution is not tolerated by the Nigerian authorities, assuring that his government will protect all of the country’s citizens, irrespective of their faith.
Nigeria’s population of approximately 220 million is comprised of equal numbers of Muslims and Christians, and radical Islamist terror groups like Boko Haram have long been involved in violence in the West African country. Both Christians and Muslims have been victims of the violence, particularly in the northern parts of the country.
