Historic Plymouth law firm named among best in the UK

A Plymouth law firm with a history dating back to 1812 has been named among the best in the UK.

Wolferstans scooped the Law Firm of the Year accolade at the LawNet Awards 2025, which recognises top-performing legal practices from across the country.

Judges praised the firm's "remarkable alignment" of ambition, strategy and execution and said it was “a shining example of strategic clarity turned into lasting success.”.

They also highlighted the company's vision, forward-thinking approach and planning, as well as its strong internal communication.

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this recognition,” said Alisa Willows, managing partner at Wolferstans.

“To be named among the best in the country - and to represent our region on this stage, is a huge honour. Our goal has always been to provide pro-active client care, and this award reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our team.”

David Price, head of talent and client experience, added: “I'm very proud of everyone at Wolferstans for winning Law Firm of the Year at this year's LawNet Awards.

"I know how hard everyone at the firm works day-in and day-out to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients - this recognition couldn’t be more deserved.”

Last week, Wolferstans announced that its Plymstock office would close and its staff would relocate to the company's Plympton and and North Hill offices.

"Our firm has grown significantly, and we need to bring our teams together to support that growth," the company said in a statement.

"As part of this, we’ve invested in Farrer Court, a new premises opposite our North Hill office. While this space won’t be client‑facing, it will provide larger, modern facilities for our staff, helping them collaborate more effectively and ensuring they have the resources they need to deliver the best possible service."
