New South West head for business advisory firm BDO

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has appointed a new regional managing partner for Thames Valley and the South West.

Andrea Bishop is the company's global and UK head of technology risk assurance - roles she will continue to do - and will take over from David Brookes who will remain as tax partner.

Ms Bishop was previously head of BDO's audit transformation and operations, leading the firm’s technology transformation programmes, and had roles on the operations board and audit board. She was also the lead partner at BDO in Bristol for a number of years.

In her new role, Ms Bishop will oversee a 500-strong team, including 43 partners, across the Thames Valley and South West.

She will be responsible for driving strategy and growth across BDO’s audit, tax, deals and consulting, and risk and outsourcing divisions.

“This is an exciting homecoming for me, returning to the region to lead our talented teams across the Thames Valley and the South West," she said.

"David and the team have built a market-leading full service offering with deep sector expertise and specialisms. At BDO, we combine local insight with global expertise and connections, enabling us to deliver exceptional service and practical solutions for our clients.

“This region is home to some of the UK’s most dynamic and high potential businesses, including many global groups, and I look forward to working closely with them to help achieve their ambitions.”

Mr Brookes added: “We’re really proud of the team we’ve built in the region and the brilliant clients we support. Andrea is an outstanding leader and her experience across global markets and commitment to exceptional client service make her the ideal person to take the region forward. I wish her every success in this new role.”

BDO has 18 offices across the UK and employs some 8,000 people. It has UK revenues of £1bn.
