A baby boy has tragically died five days after being involved in a two vehicle crash in Co Louth.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk at around 8.10pm on Saturday, December 6.
The driver of one car, a woman aged in her late 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non life-threatening injuries. The infant, who was a passenger in her car, was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital in a critical condition.
In a heartbreaking update tonight, gardai confirmed that he has since passed away in the hospital.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man aged in his early 50s, and a female teenage passenger, were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardai are continuing their investigation and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí continue to investigate a two-car road traffic collision on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Saturday 6th December 2025.
"The infant boy, a passenger in one of the cars, has since passed away at Children's Health Ireland, Temple Street.
"Gardaí continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing."
