‘Fairly OddParents’ and ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender‘ Star Dead at 66
Jim Ward, an incredibly talented voice actor, has died at the age of 66. He passed away due to complications with Alzheimer's. According to TMZ, Ward was being treated in Los Angeles at Silverado Beverly Place Memory Care.
During his career, Ward lent his voice acting skills to multiple children's cartoons and a wide array of video games. He's best known for his work on the smash hit cartoon, 'Fairly OddParents', where he voiced two characters: Doug Dimmadome and Chet Ubetcha.
Outside of his roles on 'Fairly OddParents', Ward also worked on some other big-time children's cartoons. Some of those shows were: 'Avatar: The Last Airbender (2007)', 'Kung Fu Panda: Legends Of Awesomeness (2012)', and 'New Looney Tunes' (2016 - 2017) to name a few.
Outside his roles on children's television, Ward was also a mainstay within the gaming industry. He had a long-standing role with 'Call Of Duty', which is arguably the most successful gaming franchise outside of Grand Theft Auto.
Ward began his career as a video game voice actor in 1993, after appearing in Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin.
In recent years, Ward has also voiced characters on games such as Resident Evil 4 (2005), multiple editions of Fallout, starting with New Vegas in 2010. His last video game role came in 2024 when her worked on The Thing: Remastered.
Ward's talents saw him work with some of the biggest games and cartoons in the industry. Millions of people, both old and young, have welcomed his voice into their homes, even if they didn't know who Ward was.
The voice acting industry has lost an elite talent with Ward's passing. His career tells the story of someone who loved what they did and consistently found ways to connect with their audience.
