€3m cannabis haul found in 'kitchen hood' boxes at Dublin Airport

More than three million euros worth of cannabis was discovered in boxes labelled as “Kitchen Hoods” at Dublin Airport on Saturday.

Detector dog Meabh helped Revenue officers uncover 154kg of herbal cannabis, worth 3,080,000 euro, which was in vacuum-packed packages in the boxes.

The drugs originated in America and were being shipped to an address in Dublin.

Revenue say investigations are ongoing and the seizure is part of its ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups.

They are asking any businesses or members of the public who have information to contact them.

A spokesperson for Revenue said: "On Saturday, 13th December, Revenue officers at Dublin Airport seized 154kgs of herbal cannabis, with the assistance of detector dog Meabh. The cannabis has an estimated value of approximately €3,080,000.

"The cannabis was concealed in vacuum packed packages in boxes labelled as “Kitchen Hoods”. They originated in America and were destined for an address in Dublin.

"Investigations are ongoing.

"This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
