TYRONE manager Malachy O’Rourke will look at a number of younger players during the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup, which returns against old rivals Armagh this Friday evening.
At least two experienced men will be absent, though, with 2021 Footballer of the Year Kieran McGeary of Pomeroy and Killyclogher forward Mark Bradley both away travelling.
Among those stepping up from the U20 team which retained the All-Ireland title under Paul Devlin are Callum Daly, Ben Hughes, Conor O’Neill, Joey Clarke, and Ruairi McCullagh.
Others who may get an opportunity during the pre-season competition, during which the Red Hands will also play Down, include Moy attacker Michael Conroy, who was previously called up under the joint management of Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan.

The Red Hands travel to take on Armagh in the competition opener on Friday at the Athletic Grounds before hosting Down at Pomeroy on Sunday January 11 (1.30pm).
Tyrone are the record 17-time winners of the McKenna Cup, although their last success came in 2020.
