PSNIA man has been arrested on suspicion of driving and drugs offences after being stopped by police in Derry city centre on New Year's Eve.
A vehicle was stopped on Sackville Street after checks showed that it was uninsured, police said.
"When our officers spoke to the man (aged 22), a strong smell of cannabis was detected.
"A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis, and the man will be reported to the Public Prosecution Service," police in Derry said.
The PSNI described it an example of a 'great proactive detection by officers out and about in their local community, working to keep people safe.'
Police have encouraged members of the public to report any concerns on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
