A Blushing Date by Paddy-One on DeviantArt
The café was quiet in that gentle, end-of-afternoon way—soft light slanting through the windows, cups clinking somewhere behind us. She sat across from me, shoulders tucked in, fingers half-hidden in the sleeves of her sweater. When our eyes met, she smiled quickly and looked down again, violet hair catching the light as she did. I loved that about her: how every feeling arrived softly, like a secret meant only for me.We talked about small things at first—the drink she ordered, the view outside, how nice it was to sit somewhere warm. Then there was a pause, the kind that makes her retreat inward. I reached across the table, just close enough that she could choose to meet me halfway, and said, “You know… even when you’re quiet, I never feel alone. Being with you feels like home.”Her breath caught. Color bloomed across her cheeks, spreading all the way to the tips of her ears. She brought her sleeve up to her face, eyes wide and shining, trying—and failing—to hide. After a second, she laughed softly, a shy, happy sound, and leaned a little closer. In that moment, with her blushing smile and the world fading into a warm blur behind her, I knew I’d said exactly the right thing. For the #dailychallenge for January 2, 2026 with the topic #introvert.I hope you like it.
