Aaron Wainwright is set to join Leicester Tigers for the 2026-27 season in a move which will make him the latest Wales star to quit the country’s struggling domestic game.
Wainwright, 28, has 62 Welsh caps and has played at two World Cups. His entire club career to date has been spent at the Newport-based Dragons.
But with the Welsh Rugby Union proposing cutting the number of its club teams from four to three, Wainwright will follow Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake in moving across the border to England.
Morgan and Lake have both confirmed they will move to Gloucester in the summer from Welsh side Ospreys.

The triple exit is a huge blow to the Welsh Rugby Union, who continue to insist their plan to reduce the number of clubs can lead to a bright future.
That looks hard to see right now with ongoing uncertainty in Wales over which team will be scrapped leading to players looking elsewhere.
Leicester head coach Geoff Parling has seen his international forwards George Martin and Nicky Smith agree moves to Saracens and Sale respectively.
So, the signing of Wainwright is Parling’s first real move to strengthen his squad at Welford Road.
