All these books have the male and female leads having a huge attraction. These stories have drama, intrigue, mystery, danger, family, and love.

Elise Cooper: How did you get the idea for The Cowboy’s Claim?

Lisa Childs: In this book the Lemmon brothers and their cousin Frankie inherited the Four Corners Ranch from their late boss, Frank. There is his daughter Trish who hired a lawyer to contest and is now stalling the settlement of the will. Maci, the heroine, is put on the spot since she wrote up the will.

EC: How would you describe Maci?

LC: Responsible, determined, seeks justice, stressed, vulnerable, frustrated, and sad.  She wants to carry out Frank’s wishes because he respected her and believed in her.

EC: How would you describe Blake?

LC: Funny, kind, and good with numbers.

EC: What about the relationship between Blake and Maci?

LC: They are attracted to each other. It is stalled because of Maci’s fears of conflict of interest. He is impressed and amazed by her.  She tries to fight her feelings.

EC: What is the role of Trish?

LC: Frankie and Maci and Trish used to be called The Three Musketeers. Now Frankie and Maci are disappointed in Trish, and Frankie is disgusted with her. They are disillusioned with Trish; they think she married a jerk who is controlling and has a manipulative mom. They think she is being controlled and influenced. They are struggling because based on the Trish they knew they do not expect her to do something like contesting the will. They are trying to understand her motivation to go after the whole estate.

EC: The idea for Christmas Security?

LC: Blade was a protective person and even went to jail for protecting an abusive woman.  I wanted to write a story about a protective person that would go to any extreme to safeguard others.

EC: How would you describe Blade?

LC: Honorable, lives in the shadows, honest, protective, matter of fact, and straight forward.

EC:  How would you describe Priscella, the woman he was assigned to protect?

LC: Protective of her unborn child, smart, a doctorate in biophysics, feels trapped by the family of her late husband, sincere, independent, and lonely.

EC:  What was the role of the pregnancy?

LC: It gave her the reason to stay with the family of her late husband.

EC: What about the relationship between the two?

LC: Instant attraction. Tension. They respected each other.  He is distracted by her. They must deal with another guy who is manipulative and controlling and jealous of her.  It is a love triangle where the only one who considers it such is the third wheel.

EC: Do you have wishful thinking that there can be a drug for Alzheimer’s which is what Priscella was working on?

LC: I lost my mother to it.  The worst disease.  My mom was 70 when she got it and it lasted for 15 years.  We lost her slowly. My mom was my confidant who I spoke with every day and then after the disease she became child-like. It is a horrible disease.

EC: The idea for The Unknown Colton?

LC: These are author continuities.  Authors are given an outline to make sure the plot fits in with the previous books of the series. There is an author loop going. This was a high school sweethearts’ book where he was her protector. An ongoing arc is the serial killer where each author must include clues along with the separate storyline of each book.

EC: How would you describe Larkin?

LC: Lonely, strong, resilient, sweet, kind, personable, and gutsy.

EC: How would you describe Troy?

LC: He has a “back” story on how he got hurt. Protective, loyal, caring, and stubborn.

EC: How would you describe their relationship?

LC: They were best friends to lovers, soul mates. The accident which he kept from her created tension in the relationship. They are very much in love. She has family money and his family does not, so he has a bit of an inferiority complex.  He never wants to be a burden to her. Before he admits he wants a future with her he wants to be completely healed. This causes her frustration and she begins to wonder if they have a future. She feels shut out by him.

EC: Next book(s)

LC: In April the book Twins for the Cowboy Dad will be published. It will be Trish and Brett’s story. The Family He Always Wanted will be out in September, which is Frankie’s story.

Colton’s Private Security will be out in May. In October is Covert Security which is Victor and Sheila’s story from the bachelor bodyguards.

THANK YOU!!
