President Connolly has described the loss of life in Venezuela during the U.S. intervention as “appalling” and “overlooked.” However, her criticism ignores the far greater humanitarian catastrophe caused by the socialist dictatorship itself, a regime that displaced more than 8 million people and has been responsible for the loss of thousands of lives long before any foreign intervention.
