Donald Trump has surprise phone call with Elizabeth Warren after she challenged him... as senator reveals details of their chat

Donald Trump and Elizabeth Warren discussed lowering costs for working class Americans on a surprisingly friendly phone call Monday.

The call came after Warren had an hour-long talk at the National Press Club where she called on President Trump to use his leverage to address high prices.

Shortly after the speech, the president rang the woman he has frequently derided as 'Pocahontas' in the past.

While on the phone, she said she spoke to him about his recent push to cap credit card rates and lower housing costs.

'I told him that Congress can pass legislation to cap credit card rates if he will actually fight for it,' she wrote.

'I also urged him to get House Republicans to pass the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, which passed the Senate with unanimous support and would build more housing and lower costs.'

Warren complained that Trump has 'done nothing but raise costs for families' since re-entering the White House.

'No more delays. It´s time to deliver relief for American families.'

A White House official confirmed to The Daily Mail that the pair had 'a productive call' regarding credit card interest rates and affordable housing.

Earlier in the day, Warren accused Trump of raising costs for American families and doing little to address affordability.

'He sure knows how to get on the phone,' regarding Venezuela and the Epstein files, Warren said during her speech. 'But is he on the phone to say, `Move that housing bill so that we can start right now?´'

She also suggested that the Democrat Party needed a populist rebrand closer to her own politics.

'Democrats need to earn trust with working people. Trust that we actually understand what's broken, and have the courage to fix it—even when that means taking on the wealthy and well-connected,' she said.

Warren, who endorsed Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral election, said that Democrats must choose the sort of 'big tent' party they wish to be.

'There are two versions for what a big tent means. The Democratic Party cannot pursue both visions at the same time. Either we politely nibble around the edges of change, or we throw ourselves into the fight.'

The president has long derided Senator Warren over her left-wing politics and for lying about her Native American heritage in the past.

Warren self-identified that she had Native American heritage on applications to Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.

But after being called out by Trump, she later released a DNA test in 2018 which revealed that she was only 1/512th Native American.

Trump publicly mocked her as Pocahontas last year during a speech he gave to a joint session of Congress.

Warren clapped and nodded even as he made her the butt of the joke, later commenting that she feels being mentioned means she 'actually hit a nerve'.

The Senator has no plans to run for president in 2028 after her flop bid in 2020 but wants to shape the party for whomever might choose to going forward.
