Manitoba school bus crashed after driver lost control while trying to pass another bus: RCMP

A number of students have been sent to hospital after the school bus they were in skidded off the highway and rolled near Swan River. RCMP say the crash happened on Highway 10 south of Mafeking around 8:30 Tuesday morning.

Four people suffered "significant but non-life-threatening injuries" in a school bus rollover north of Swan River, Man., a small community about 170 kilometres northwest of Dauphin, and were taken to a hospital, police said.Three patients are being taken by air to the children’s hospital at Winnipeg’s Health Science Centre for further care. One person is going to the adult emergency department there. The crash happened amid icy conditions Tuesday morning on Highway 10.Multiple other students are being treated for injuries, both at the scene and the hospital.The Sapotaweyak Cree Nation Education Authority bus was carrying 14 students in Grades 9 to 12 and one adult driver, Swan Valley School Division superintendent Rob Tomlinson said in a statement.
