‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Riders’ star Marcus Gilbert dead at 67British actor Marcus Gilbert has passed away at the age of 67.The actor was best known for playing the role of Rupert Campbell-Black in Riders, based on Jilly Cooper’s book.Marcus also starred later in shows including Doctor Who and Murder, She Wrote.The late actor was diagnosed with throat cancer three years ago before passing away on Sunday. The Bristol-born actor is survived by his two children, son Maxi and daughter Aaliya.Marcus was married to Homaa Khan-Gilbert until her death from pancreatic cancer in 2020.His fans are grieving the loss as a fansite shared a statement “Today we have heard the very sad news that Marcus lost his battle against cancer on January 11, 2026.”It continued “We, along with his many fans worldwide, will mourn his loss, and remember the joy he gave us on screen and in person. RIP Marcus.”Born in Bristol in 1958, Marcus went on to study at the Mountview Theatre School.He made over 50 commercials in his life and even had his own film production company, Touch the Sky Productions.His last work was in Meet Pursuit Delange: The Movie in 2015.
