Swapped With The Barmaid II by Riley-TG on DeviantArt

(Join my patreon)  (Youtube: Riley-TG) (Youtube: TransDragonGirl)It’s been a week since Samuel swapped bodies with a random barmaid who had been serving him. Ever since then, Samuel hasn’t had enough time to rest, never mind looking around town for her old body. She gets woken up at six am to start preparing the tavern; that involves pulling all the chairs off of the tables, sweeping the floors and preparing the morning meals. She finishes that by the time the tavern opens for breakfast at eight. From eight in the morning to midnight, Samuel serves customers until the tavern closes. Of course, if a customer is still there and drinking, she has to stay and serve them, so some nights she doesn’t leave until three in the morning. Her main duties during the day are taking the orders of the customers, serving them what they ordered, being nice to them, and, according to her boss, looking pretty enough to attract more customers. After the last customer leaves, she spends two hours cleaning the bar. After that she’s free to go up to her room and sleep, which wasn’t nearly long enough for how exhausted she got working her butt off all day.She was starting to wonder if she’d ever get a day off, but luckily tomorrow was that day. Her boss was heading out to meet a merchant who was finally able to travel to Helverse Town and sell his high-quality mead.So he gave her the day off, which meant she could finally go and look for her old body. Samuel was actually quite excited about that and worked extra hard that night, finishing her after-close chores in only an hour. After that Samuel went right to bed, wanting to get enough rest for the next day. She had hoped to get up nice and early like she had been all week, but thanks to her boss being gone and not waking her up, she slept in until noon. When she woke up and realized how late it was, she hopped out of bed and got dressed as quickly as she could. She then ran into town and started asking all the locals if they had seen the hero who stopped the witch. Most of them had, saying they showered him with gifts and praises over the last week; however, none of them had seen him over the last two days. There was a rumor he had taken on another quest and left, but from Samuel’s investigation, that didn’t seem to be the case. She discovered the body-snatching barmaid had used her gold to purchase some protective armor for a woman, a rapier, and lastly a horse, all things Samuel would never have bought as a guy who uses a longsword and hates horses. However, it was that very horse that told Samuel that the body snatching was still around, as the horse was still in the stables. It seemed like the body snatcher was up to something, but Samuel was having a hard time figuring it out.She needed to change the way she was going at things. Instead of trying to track her body down, she should figure out more about Fern and see what exactly she got herself in debt for. So Samuel started walking around town looking for any information about her current body. That turned out to be easy, as everyone in town knew her. Guess being the only waitress at the only place in town that sells alcohol makes you well known, but not in the way where people know things about you. Most of the men in town know Fern because they go to the tavern to drink and spend the night hitting on her and checking out her body, while most of the women know her because their husbands can’t keep their eyes off of her.So Samuel found most of the people she talked to didn’t want to speak to her and would either start hitting on her or calling her names. She was starting to think it was hopeful until a woman her age called out to her.Samuel turned and looked at her and was expecting to be yelled at again but was pleasantly surprised when the woman hugged her instead. Samuel had no idea who she was, but clearly she was a friend of this body’s original owner.Samuel greeted the woman, still having no idea who she was, so it was a bit awkward. She seemed to notice and knocked on Samuel’s head like someone would knock on a door. She then jokingly asked if there was anyone home in Samuel’s head. She pretended to be sad as she said her best friend had worked so hard she forgot about her. Samuel let out an awkward laugh and decided to play around, hoping she could use it to fish for some information.Samuel put her hand on her forehead and said it was true; she had worked so hard that all she knows is the duties of a barmaid. The woman pouted hearing that; she then stuck her finger out at Samuel. She then very seriously said that her name was Kathrine and that Samuel better not forget it again. Samuel let out yet another awkward laugh and said she wouldn’t. That made Kathrine smile and then the two continued talking. Well, Kathrine continued talking and didn’t stop even for a moment.Samuel was hoping since she was Fern’s best friend, she would know more about her and reveal that to Samuel; however, Kathrine was a bit of an airhead and just rambled on about random stuff, like a snack she tried and liked or some cool flowers she saw on the road.It wasn’t until an hour later that she suddenly stopped talking and asked about something named Fera. Samuel raised an eyebrow and asked who that was, which really shocked Kathrine. She then asked Samuel if she hit her head while working.Samuel shrugged and lied, saying she did, figuring it would be a good excuse for why she knew next to nothing about Fern’s life. Kathrine seemed worried by that but then revealed that Fera was her sister, well, Fern’s sister.Samuel got excited; this was the first helpful clue she had found all day. Samuel asked Kathrine about Fera and where she could find her. Kathrine looked worried again and told Samuel she was where she always was, beside the village elder taking care of him.Samuel then pressed her hand on her face and realized she had been dumb. She had met the red-haired girl when he turned in the quest. She was indeed by the elder's side, and now that she thought about it, she looked just like her current body, so of course they were related.Samuel thanked Kathrine and said she had to go. Kathrine nodded and said goodbye. Samuel then ran all the way to the elder's house to see if she could find Fera and hopefully Fern in her body. When she arrived, she heard the village elder yelling.Samuel was worried and ran up to the door and was about to open it up when it suddenly flew open and knocked her down. She landed on her butt and went to yell at the person who had knocked her down, but it turned out it was her original body.Samuel saw him running off with a red haired woman who was wearing a bit of armor. Samuel got up right away, realizing what was going on. Fern had gotten her sister and was fleeing. So if they got away, she’d likely never get her body back.Samuel jumped off the elder's porch and was about to run after them when she heard someone with armor come walking out. Samuel had a bad feeling and stopped to look at him, only to be shocked to see he had a lance pierced through his stomach. The man seemed to be a member of the town guard, and he was quite pissed off. In a loud, deep voice that could be heard all over town, he yelled out that the town hero had put the mayor down. After he said that, he fell down the stairs and to the ground.I gulped as I walked over to him and checked his pulse. He was gone, and from his words so too was the mayor. I get pushed out of the way by some of the other town guards when they arrive and I just stand there in shock. I still had no idea what was going on. How did Fern steal my body? Why did she use my body and my money to get rid of the mayor? Why was she running away with her sister? What am I going to do now? I had all these questions and I only knew the answer to one of them. I’d be going back to the tavern and continuing to work as a barmaid.
