A Greater Manchester housing development has welcomed its first residents.
The newly completed scheme on Warwick Road South in Old Trafford has been delivered by Altrincham-based McGoff Group for Southway Housing Trust.
Approved by Trafford Council in June 2023 following a joint submission by Victor (Old Trafford) Ltd – a joint venture between Victor at MC Construction and the McGoff Group – alongside Southway Housing Trust, the £18.2 million development supports efforts to increase the supply of high-quality affordable homes locally.
Spanning 62,000sq ft, the scheme comprises 80 one and two-bedroom apartments across three buildings and provides 100 per cent affordable housing.
Of the homes, 57 are available for affordable rent and managed by Southway Housing Trust, while the remaining properties are offered through shared ownership and managed by Gecko Homes.
Dean Johnston, managing director of McGoff Construction Services Group, said: “The truly collaborative approach taken by the Group enabled us to deliver this landmark scheme comprising one five-storey and two four-storey apartment blocks ahead of programme in just under 100 weeks with a 100 per cent safety record and to the highest quality standards.
“We very much look forward to working with Southway again who have been an excellent client to work alongside.”
McGoff Group led the project from early development management through to construction, with McGoff Construction acting as principal contractor.
Chris McGoff, director at the McGoff Group, added: “We are delighted to deliver this sustainable development of high-quality affordable homes ahead of schedule and look forward to handing it over to Southway Housing Trust for the benefit of residents in Trafford.”
The scheme was designed by architects Corstorphine and Wright and used off-site lightweight steel frame technology supplied by Panacea to improve efficiency, reduce waste and support sustainability goals.
Located close to key transport links and local amenities, the development delivers modern, energy-efficient homes aimed at supporting long-term community growth in Old Trafford.
Jonathan Turner, assistant director of development at Southway Housing Trust, added: “We’re proud to celebrate our wonderful new homes in Trafford which help people buy or rent more affordably.
“The development features our first homes available for rent in the borough.
“There is a big demand for these homes, and we’re pleased to be working with Trafford Council to help families move out of unsuitable temporary housing into some of these homes.
“The scheme is a great success thanks the hard work of McGoffs, Victor and all the partners.”
