High-Heeled Homesteading by JuggaloJessica on DeviantArt

People think life in a 200-year-old cabin is all quiet reflection and soft light. Clearly, they’ve never had to churn five gallons of cream into butter while wearing my favorite platforms.Churning is a full-body commitment. Between the rhythmic thud of the wooden dasher and the sound of my heels echoing off these ancient floorboards, it gets pretty loud in here. It’s vigorous, it’s exhausting, and yeah, it’s a bit of a workout—as you can probably hear. By the time the butter finally breaks, I’ve definitely earned a break. Who knew homesteading could be this intense?
