AtomicGirl is courageous, forthright, and steadfast. She also loves the camera. Call it what you will, but it's one of her trademarks, just like her "Atomic Haymaker" knockout punch. The camera also loves her. It's quite evident from these photos, taken sometime in 1954, shortly after she took possession of the one and only AtomiCar.Built by the Ironside Automobile Corporation, and reputeldy designed by the the legendary Virgil Exner, was a perfect cross promotion. AtomicGirl got a new car ("In recognition for your selfless duty to the freedom-loving people of he world") and Ironside got a new celebrity endorsement (that did manage to delay the inevitable. The last Ironside rolled off the assembly line in 1966).So when the car arrived arrived in New Mexico with a top New York fashion photographer and his assistant, AtomicGirl didn't think twice. Pose for a few photographs? Why not!These outtakes from the photoshoot have never been seen until now, over 70 years later. A glorious afternoon, a very happy young superheroine, and a dream car, preserved on film forever.
