Israel kills TV presenter, two others in Lebanon

An Israeli drone attack killed a television presenter who worked for Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV station in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, according to the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Hezbollah said the killing on Monday of presenter Ali Nour al-Din, who worked for the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar, portends “the danger of Israel’s extended escalations [in Lebanon] to include the media community”.

Lebanese minister of information, Paul Morcos, condemned the Israeli strike in a post on X, saying the "ongoing targeting of journalists and media professionals constitutes a clear war crime and a blatant violation of international laws."

“We declare our solidarity and condolences to the media family, and call on the international community to fully assume its responsibilities and take urgent action to put an end to these violations and ensure the protection of media professionals in Lebanon,” the minister said.

In a separate attack, an Israeli drone strike killed Egyptian citizen Abdul Nabi Ramadan Ameen Al Sayed and Lebanese civilian Samer Hteit when it hit their car in Kfar Rumman in southern Lebanon, according to the Quds news network.

The killings come as Lebanon’s foreign ministry submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations about Israel's ceasefire violations in Lebanon, calling on the Security Council to pressure Israel to end its attacks in the country.

The ministry stated that Israeli breaches of the ceasefire in October, November, and December 2025 totalled 542, 691, and 803, respectively, bringing the total to 2,036 incidents.

The Israeli attacks are also a “clear” violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended a war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, it said.

Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024, ending months of clashes that had escalated into full-scale war in September 2024.

During the conflict, Israel killed Hezbollah’s long-time chief Hassan Nasrallah, his deputy and several other senior figures, dealing a major blow to the group’s leadership and capabilities.

Hezbollah has not launched retaliatory attacks for nearly a year.
