A shooting on the back side of Lakeside High School in Martinez, Evans County, Georgia, sparked a lockdown at the high and middle schools of Lakeside High on Wednesday.
Representational. (Unsplash)Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting to a local news outlet, 1226 News reported. Students are safe, and there is no danger at the school, the outlet reported.
The Sheriff's Office also provided information on the suspects, saying that they are searching for three black male suspects. One is wearing a gray hoodie and the other, a pink hoodie.
Despite there being no active threat, the school remains on lockdown as the police response continues.
The sheriff's office said that the shooting did not occur on the school property. The initial police response was on the 400 block of Riverwatch Parkway, per 1226 News.
Martinez is in Columbia County, Georgia, just west of Augusta in east-central Georgia near the South Carolina border.
