"What you want is what you are." Studiocanal has debuted the full official trailer for the film titled Guru, also known as Gourou in French, the latest creation from filmmaker Yann Gozlan & actor Pierre Niney (they also made A Perfect Man & Black Box together before). Guru is "a gripping and ultra-modern thriller" about an influencer. "Beware of your idols." The film stars Pierre Niney as Matt Vasseur, a charismatic and manipulative self-help guru, a "life coach" with a darker side. When a Senator starts to threaten his business and some of his followers begin to exhibit intense, even dangerous levels of obsession, Matt's world begins to unravel, revealing the hidden darkness behind his seemingly perfect life. The film premiered last year and is opening in French theaters this weekend. Expected to arrive in the US later in 2026. Along with Niney, it also features Marion Barbeau, Anthony Bajon, Christophe Montenez, and Holt McCallany. This is definitely not the first film about an influencer having a dark & twisted side, and these stories are based on real life people anyway. Looks like it gets intense. I'm curious if the reviews from France say if it's any good.
