But despite their pedigree and history, Mat has never been that much of a fan of them! However, he’s got his hands on an all-new Vanquish, and he’s about to see if this car has what it takes to change his mind! So let’s take a closer look at this luxurious grand tourer… When it comes to the design, the Vanquish is an absolute behemoth on the road, measuring almost 5 metres long! Up front, there is the traditional Aston Martin grille, though in this instance it’s larger than usual to allow maximum airflow to the huge V12 under the bonnet. The bonnet also features two carbon-fibre strakes that give it even more presence on the road. Along the side, it sits low and sleek, while at the back, there’s the Shield, which may have proven divisive among the motoring world, but we think it gives it extra presence and purpose. This is flanked by slashed LED lights, and there’s a huge diffuser below it. And of course, this is flanked either side by huge exhaust tips! The majority of the interior is covered in soft-touch, expensive materials. However, it’s not all perfect! While the top of the dash and the centre console may feel well made, there are some cheaper plastics to be found if you reach low down. What’s more, the infotainment isn’t exactly the largest or most responsive. Thankfully, though, there are lots of physical buttons to be found across the centre console - a huge improvement on Astons of yesteryear! But the most impressive element of the Vanquish is found under the bonnet. It houses a huge 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, and this creates an incredible 835hp and 1,000Nm - more torque than any other Aston Martin! What’s more, this is also 5hp more than Ferrari’s infamous V12! But of course, a car of this nature doesn’t come cheap… It starts from £330,000, and the car we have here, with options, costs around £400,000! So is it worth it? And has it done enough to impress Mat? You’ll need to keep watching to see for yourself!
