Monster hearts in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined are new items that replace the monster vocations from the original game. Obtained from treasure chests hidden in dungeons or by killing stronger, glowing variants of certain monsters, these hearts are powerful pieces of equipment that grant special passive abilities or buffs.
With many options to choose from, we selected the best hearts in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined that your characters should always use.
The best monster hearts in Dragon Quest 7 ReimaginedIn Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, you can equip a monster heart in either of the two accessory slots a character has. You can equip two monster hearts in these slots, but since they don't provide attribute bonuses, running two hearts is not the best option. There are builds that'll utilize two hearts (which we mention below), but you'll mostly want to pair a heart with an accessory instead.
That said, monster hearts are game-changers in the early- and mid-game, with some offering extremely powerful abilities. Considering the hearts available within the first hours of the game and those that remain useful until the end, we selected the best ones.
Heaslime heart Effect: 10 HP restored each turnThe Healslime heart has a simple effect: at the beginning of their turn, the character equipped with it recovers 10 HP. It might not seem like much, but auto-healing can be crucial for winning a fight.
You are often forced to choose between recovering your characters' HP or attacking enemies, but every time you need to heal a character, enemies gain another turn to attack and possibly kill you. Having any means to heal a character without spending their turn is extremely powerful and that's why Heaslime heart is fantastic.

You can find the Healslime heart in Grotta del Sigillo - Level 2 in L'Arca (Present).
Golem heart Effect: allows the bearer to survive a killing blow with a 1HP remaining. Some party members are so important that their death during a fight can be lethal for the whole group, whether that's because they deal the most damage or because they're the only healer you have. Regardless of the reasons, you want to equip them with the Golem heart. With it, a character will survive any deadly hits, remaining with one HP. Since Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined has turn-based combat, this heart helps to maintain your party healthy. Keeping them alive for another turn can make all the difference. You will have time to heal them and protect them from any future attacks.

You find the Golem heart in The Tower - Floor 5 in the Ballymolloy region. You will visit this place during the main quest so it's hard to miss.
Meowgician heart Effect: critical spell chance increased by 10%.Spells are one of the strongest sources of damage you have in the game. Leave Maribel casting Frizz or Boom at enemies and she will win most fights for you. Given the potential of magic in the game, the Meowgician heart is an excellent option for casters, like the Mage and Sage vocations. While the former vocation's special ability allows a character to land only critical hits, this heart will help them maintain the highest possible damage output for longer periods of time.

To obtain the Meowgician heart, you must defeat the Vicious Meowgician. You can find them on the northeast side of the L'Arca region (Part).
Clawcerer heart Effect: makes the bearer's critical spells 50% more effective.Another great heart of the Mage and other spellcasting vocations, the Clawcerer heart makes every critical hit stronger. While it can have other applications, we mainly focused on using it to increase Maribel's damage output. Additionally, although equipping two hearts is not ideal, you can combine the Clawcerer heart with the Meowgician heart to make the perfect buff setup for casters.

The Clawcerer heart is inside a chest in the Likeness of the Great Evil - Level 2 in the Al-Balad region (Past).
Cactiball heart Effect: 100% chance of reflecting physical damage taken.Among the vocations available in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, making the ones focused on defending the party, like Paladin, capable of also dealing solid damage is a challenge. Most of their skills are designed to support the rest of the party, leaving little room for direct offense — which is why the Cactiball heart is one of the best choices for tank-like classes. For example, Paladin's Forbearance makes the character intercept all incoming attacks, meaning every enemy will target them. With the Cactiball heart, the Paladin can cause damage to enemies whenever they hit them with physical damage while still protecting the rest of the party. It's the perfect match!
