Three dead and seven injured after car smashes through front of Asian supermarket

Three people have died and seven others are seriously injured after a car smashed through the front of an Asian supermarket.NBC Los Angeles reports the vehicle was allegedly being driven by an elderly woman and hit people who were outside the shop before crashing into the store.The incident was reported at around 12:10pm Pacific Standard Time ( 8:10pm GMT) at the 99 Ranch Market grocery store on Westwood Boulevard near Rochester Avenue, in Los Angeles.In a statement the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) described the incident as a "vehicle into structure" which had resulted in "multiple fatalities"."Ten total patients identified at this scene; seven patients are being transported to a local hospital," the service said. "Three total people have been determined beyond medical help and deceased on scene."Demographic information and circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet confirmed."Pictures from the scene show firefighters setting up as makeshift triage area near the store to attend to the injured.At least seven ambulances, four fire engines and one fire truck were on scene, alongside numerous LAPD officers, according to reports in local media.Several people were trapped under the car and had to be extracted when rescuers arrived, LAFD Spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz told NBC news. The driver is reported to have remained at the scene.According to reports three of the seven people injured are said to be in a serious condition, while two others are in minor condition. Some of the victims were hit before the vehicle slammed into the building, the fire department said.A silver sedan car can apparently be seen inside the front of the store. The driver remained on the scene following the incident, authorities said.Emergency services had descended on the area with two blocks of Westwood Boulevard from Wilkins Avenue to Wellworth Avenue were reportedly blocked off along with the intersecting block of Rochester Avenue.
