A young lifesaver who disappeared days ago after last being seen swimming at a Sunshine Coast beach has been found dead.
The 18-year-old, from Marcus Beach on the Sunshine Coast, was last seen entering the water with friends at Buddina Beach at about 4:15pm on Wednesday.
He had been training as a lifesaver and is understood to have set out just before a scheduled lifesaving training session.
When his friends arrived back at shore and noticed him gone, they told others at the club, with one recalling seeing his surfboard nose-diving in the water that morning.
Later that same day his friends were able to recover the teen's surfboard but had found no trace of him anywhere nearby.
The surfboard also showed no signs of damage, nor anything else to explain how it had become separated from their friend.
Police confirmed his lifeless body had been spotted and subsequently removed from the water around 6pm on Friday.

The teen had disappeared in the surf Wednesday morning before rescue teams were able to recover his body around 6pm on Friday
Extensive search and rescue efforts had been underway since the teen was first reported to have gone missing the day he was last seen.
Rescue teams scoured the water on jet skis and dinghies while the LifeFlight rescue helicopter, Polair and coastguard surveyed the area from above.
These teams included hundreds of volunteers from around the region who insisted on helping find the teen.
Their search extended from Point Cartwright to south of Kawana where rough water conditions caused several delays for police divers and others on the water.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
