Footy star gets engaged to the daughter of one of Australia's greatest ever athletes

Stunning announcement has been made on social media

Newcastle Knights star Bradman Best has announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Kayla, who is the daughter of Aussie boxing icon Jeff Fenech.

The pair have announced the happy news on Instagram, with the proposal taking place at the lavish Krinklewood Estate Winery in the NSW Hunter Valley.

'Here's to forever,' the couple captioned their engagement post.

Their post has since received more than 11,000 likes and 370 comments, with some of footy's biggest names sending their best wishes.

'Congratulations guys! How good,' said Cronulla Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes.

'Yes guys how good best ever,' added Sydney Roosters forward Angus Crichton.

'Congrats guys,' wrote Best's former teammate Mitchell Barnett.

Bradman and Kayla brought their first child into the world last December, with their baby, Kaliyah, present for the proposal.

The bride-to-be wore a glamorous white dress and received a luxurious ring crafted by Simon Curwood Jewellers.

However, Kayla's relationship with Bradman almost never got off the ground because her father Jeff never wanted her to date a footy star.

'I'd always warned my girls about going out with league players,' Fenech told News Corp.
